Your first shower after your spray tan should be very gentle & lukewarm. Just use your hands to help the bronzer to rinse off your skin. Don’t use any loofahs, washcloths or products.
You should’ve worn dark & baggy clothes to your appointment to put on after you dry. Sweatpants, tee’s and flip flops are ideal. Nothing constricting like bras or socks & shoes. If you tanned late at night and need to sleep on the solution I’d put something down on your sheets in case the bronzer transfers. It will come right out in the wash though!
No exercising or sitting in a hot car in the summer. Avoid fighting with your significant other or watching the notebook because tear streaks are especially hard to blend out. No dancing in the rain either, if it’s stormy out be prepared with an umbrella. If you forget the umbrella, I will walk outside with you holding a towel over your head.
Avoid crossing your legs or sitting indian style. Don’t cross your arms. Pants and long sleeves are ideal but at least wear pants if it’s summer. You will get patches in those skin on skin areas otherwise. Don’t cuddle unless you both want to be half tan.
If you can, stay out of the hot tub, pool, steam room & ocean. Otherwise make it short & rinse off in the shower after. Always always pat yourself dry, don’t rub! I should also add that really hot showers or excessive exercising can effect the life span of your tan as well.
A lot of the skin care products we use everyday can strip your tan. Such as exfoliating face washes & serums or anti-aging creams. Stick to things that are approved for sensitive skin & you should be alright. NEVER use Dove soap. Unless you hate your tan & want it off immediately.
You should hold off on exfoliating or using anything that exfoliates like some loofahs until you’re ready to prepare for your next tan. Don’t shave until your partner complains and when you do shave try not to press down too hard. I will say again, always pat yourself dry!
If you don’t follow my advice on anything else, please just moisturize every single day starting the day after your tan. The more hydrated your skin is, the longer your tan will last. Drinking water always helps!
